Hello, My alstroemeria planted last year. It hasn't withered, only the flower petals have fallen. Should I prune it? How? I am in the Paris region. It's truly a beautiful plant, with lots of flowers from spring until frost. I will order more this year. Kind regards.

Description

Also known as the Inca Lily, the Alstroemeria or Alstroemeria Inca Pulse is a highly floriferous hybrid.

The flowers are clustered at the end of the stems. They have a graceful funnel shape. Their foliage is light green or gray-green, sparsely distributed along the rigid stems.

The Exotica variety bears yellow flowers speckled with dark orange.

The more bouquets you make, the more you stimulate its flowering.

Planting and care

Alstromerias are very hardy and generous in flowering. Plant your young plants in the spring, spaced 15 cm (6in) apart, in a lightened soil mixed with sand and compost. Your soil should be deeply worked as this plant produces roots that live deeply but doesn't like effort. Plant them in full sun and don't disturb them during the first season, mulch them for their first winter in the ground. They will delight you with their continuous flowering from June until the first frost.
