Mustard or Wild Mustard is a condiment plant grown as a green manure or for its white, brown, or black seeds, sometimes still for its leaves consumed in salads. Mustard is also cultivated as a phytoremediation plant as it has the ability to absorb and fix soil nitrates. This fast-growing plant can be sown almost all year round except in the middle of winter. It is also highly recommended among vegetable gardeners as it repels predators.  As a crucifer, however, it is not advisable to grow it next to cabbages or other members of the family. Mustard seed can be sown on  loosened soil. It can be grown in all types of soil, even dry or poor ones in the sun or in partial shade.
