Protecta Landes Pine Tar is a plant-based product resulting from the carbonisation of Landes pine wood. Endowed with healing virtues, it creates a waterproof physical barrier that protects wounds, as well as pruning wounds or injuries from pathogens. Packaged in a 300ml aerosol spray bottle, this treatment can be used to heal trees or shrubs in the garden.

It is sometimes necessary to prune trees, to limit their development or to encourage fruiting. They can also be accidentally injured by strong wind or lightning, leaving wounds that are entry points for bacteria, fungi, and pathogenic insects. However, not all trees and shrubs have the same healing and resilience capacities after pruning. In the case of deliberate pruning, it is advisable to respect the specific calendar for each species to limit adverse consequences.

Pine Tar from the Landes is a thick, unctuous, and sticky, dark paste whose properties have been recognised for many decades. In this sprayable, more fluid formula, this paste is present at a rate of 36%. This is a tar resulting from the carbonisation of the species Pinus Palustris. The rest of the solution is composed of ethanol, a disinfectant, and dimethyl ether. Its duration of effectiveness, through a "barrier" effect, is approximately 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the thickness applied, the quality of the surface, and the quantity applied. It is recommended to carefully clean out wounds before applying this treatment. It can be used as a healing agent for pruning/accidental wounds, or after cutting off suckers, which grow on young plants in greenhouse cultivation, where wound protection is strongly advised. For vines, cutting the woody climbing stems should be done a few centimetres (4-5 cm) from a bud, as there is a risk of weakening at bud break. Pine tar should not be sprayed on fruits, flowers, and leaves.

Compliant with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) as amended by Regulation (EU) 2015/830.
