Cucumber – Cucumis sativus from the Cucurbitaceae family is a fruit consumed as a summer vegetable for its refreshing character. Cucumber and Gherkin belong to the same species. Rich in water, its cultivation requires sun and abundant watering. This vegetable, originally from India, is particularly cultivated in Mediterranean regions. Peeled, cut into slices or cubes, it is consumed raw in salads and cold soups. It is the main ingredient in the iconic Greek dish Tzatziki. Low in calories but rich in vitamins and minerals, Cucumber is renowned for being a powerful antioxidant and thirst quencher.
