Courgettes – Curcurbita pepo – from the Cucurbitaceae family is a squash consumed as a vegetable and harvested from the vegetable garden when still young and tender. Often cylindrical, this fruit-vegetable can also be spherical like the Courgette 'Eight Ball'.
