A selection of variegated Abelia bushes in white, yellow, pink, or multicoloured foliage. Abelia grandiflora is a well-known and prized bush for its long flowering period, ranging from pink to slightly scented white. Some selections with colourful foliage are decorative even outside of the flowering season, especially when it persists in winter. Among the most planted ones, Abelia grandiflora 'Kaleidoscope', with variegated green and yellow leaves turning orange-red in autumn, and 'Sparkling Silver', with dark green leaves variegated with cream white, whose margin turns pink in autumn, or even 'Tricolor Charm', which displays a very beautiful tricoloured foliage in green, cream, and pink, tinted with yellow in spring. Among the 'variegated' ones, there are vigorous varieties reaching or exceeding 1.50m (5ft) in height, as well as dwarf selections suitable for small gardens or pot cultivation. Native to China, Abelia bushes are moderately hardy. They prefer a light, well-drained soil, even limestone, and a sunny exposure. They tolerate wind well, as well as coastal areas. Pruning is limited to thinning out the habit after flowering and removing old wood. Here are our best varieties of variegated Abelia bushes.
