A medium height hedge is composed of shrubs that naturally stay under 2m (7ft) in height, and are therefore particularly suitable for creating boundary hedges. This type of hedge allows you to hide from prying eyes and protect yourself from the wind, while offering a wide diversity of flowers, foliage, fruits, and scents according to each gardener's taste. It can be interesting to mix evergreen and deciduous shrubs in order to avoid a bare appearance in winter. The relatively small growth of the species and varieties that make up a medium hedge limits maintenance work to light annual pruning to keep it looking neat.  Space your plants, depending on their mature size, from 50 cm (20in) to 1 m (3ft) apart.
