Pampas Grass, formerly known as Gynerium and now known as Cortaderia, is a grass native to the southern hemisphere. With its imposing size, it is appreciated for its large, feathery, silver spikes. Once widely used in gardens, proudly standing in the middle of lawns, Cortaderia has fallen out of favour. Yet its qualities are numerous, starting with its evergreen foliage, its luminous spikes, its ease of cultivation, and above all, its flexibility in maintenance. It now comes in several varieties: with a more compact shape, with pink flowers or coloured leaves. Plant it in the sun, in a wildflower bed, or in the midst of bushes.
