Our range of purple Physocarpus, purple-leaved Ninebarks that bring beautiful depth of colour to beds and hedges. The famous Physocarpus opulifolius 'Diabolo' is charming with its dark purple, almost black foliage that beautifully contrasts with its white flowers in summer. The 'Summer Wine' variety offers a more compact habit with softer chocolate-purple leaves and pale pink flowers; it's better for small spaces. Physocarpus 'Lady in Red' stands out with its bright red foliage in spring, turning burgundy in autumn. 'Zdechovice' is a vigorous variety reaching 2 metres with foliage that transitions from orange-red to purple with changing tones. It will be magnificent in an informal hedge.

These robust bushes prefer a sunny exposure to properly develop their colour and adapt to a wide range of soils, as long as they are well-drained and moist. Not very susceptible to diseases, they require little maintenance, aside from annual pruning in late winter to maintain a harmonious habit.
