Davidia involucrata, or handkerchief tree, is unique in its kind. Davidia is a hardy tree, native to China and blooms in May-June. The Davidia flowering is spectacular as the tree is covered with bracts, first cream-coloured and then white, which can measure up to 20 centimetres (8 inches) long. Davidia will associate very well with large dogwoods with white flowers and the Cornus controversa, the snakebark maple, Nyssa sylvatica with its flamboyant autumn foliage. The Davidia will thrive in an open space in the sun and in a humus-rich and well-drained soil.

You'll adore them!
