Thalictrums, also known as Pigamons, are hardy perennial plants that are easy to grow and belong to the renonculaceae family. From the giant Thalictrum 'Elin', which can reach up to 3m (10ft) in height, to the flowering Thalictrum delavayi and Thalictrum aquilegifolium, and the ground covering Thalictrum kiushianum or ichiangense that do not exceed 30cm (12in), the thalictrums form highly branched inflorescences at the beginning of summer, bearing small but numerous flowers in shades of pink, yellow, purple, white or violet depending on the variety.

They prefer moist to humid soils when in flower, that are light and rich in humus. While some can tolerate full sun, most prefer bright areas without direct sunlight during the hottest hours, sheltered from dry and strong winds.
