Linum are hardy perennial and annual plants. Cultivated primarily for their fibre and oil, flax is an easy-to-grow ornamental plant. The perennial flax or Linum perenne forms a clump of slender stems with evergreen foliage. The flowers, shaped like flat cups, are blue. Plant flax in a sunny spot in poor, well-draining soil.
