Yardlong Beans, Dolichos, Chinese Long Beans or Snake Beans - Vigna unguiculata subsp. sesquipedalis - are a species of liana cultivated in vegetable gardens for their exceptionally long pods: they form 80 cm (32in) or longer pods, with both the pods and beans being edible. Their astonishing taste is a combination of green beans and asparagus. Originating from Southeast Asia,they are prepared like green beans that have been cut into segments. These Yardlong Beans require a lot of heat and should be planted in a very sunny spot.
