Escallonia is a fast-growing ornamental bush. Its hardiness is limited to minus 10 degrees (50°F) and its resistance to salt spray makes it ideal for planting as an evergreen hedge by the sea. In inland areas, plant Escallonia in a sheltered spot away from cold winds. Escallonia blooms generously in summer, with pink or white flowers depending on the variety. Its tubular flowers appear in small clusters on branches that arch gracefully.
