Physalis, Ground Cherry, Cape Gooseberry or Gooseberry Tomato from the Solanaceae family are herbaceous plants comprising several varieties grown for their fruit. These berries are nestled in a calyx resembling a Chinese lantern. Some varieties are used as fresh fruit, while others - the Tomatillos - are used in savoury dishes. Sow them indoors in a warm tray from March and then transfer them into the ground once it is well warmed from May to July. These small berries about the size of a cherry are often yellow-orange and highly rich in vitamin C and minerals.

You'll love them!
