Our range of cherry plum trees. The cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera) is a small deciduous tree appreciated for its flowers that appear from late winter, often before the foliage. The cultivar ‘Nigra’ is one of the best known: it offers dark purple foliage and pale pink flowers that bloom in March. The ‘Hollywood’ cherry plum combines light pink flowering and small edible red fruits in summer. ‘Złoty Obłok’, on the contrary, stands out with very bright golden foliage and early white flowers. Cherry plum ‘Pissardii’, very close to ‘Nigra’, has light purple foliage and white to very pale pink flowering.
These 4 to 6 m tall trees, commonly called cherry plums, are perfect for small gardens or informal hedges. They are undemanding, thrive in the sun and tolerate temperatures down to -20°C. Plant them in ordinary, well-drained soil, even slightly calcareous.
