Our range of Spring Asters. These are plants such as Aster tongolensis and its varieties 'Wartburgstern' and 'Berggarten', as well as Alpine Aster (Aster alpinus) and its numerous forms such as 'Albus' with white flowers, or 'Happy End' with pink flowers. Unlike the tall autumn asters (Aster or Symphyotrichum novae-angliae, Aster novi-belgii), these are small perennial plants, of montane origin, that flower from April to June in well-drained, not too dry soils, in full sun or partial shade. The flowers are heads formed by ligulate petals surrounding a yellow central disk. The colour palette includes white, various shades of pink, blue, pale purple to violet. These spring asters are excellent rockery or border plants. They are also perfect for connecting perennial borders and pathways, at the top of walls, or even in pots.
