Often classified among the grass family, Luzula, known as woodrush in British English, belong to the family of rushes or juncaceae. An excellent shade-loving plant able to grow at the base of trees in dry shade, woodrush is a wonderful ground cover plant. Its green, grey, or variegated leaves with cream depending on the variety, are evergreen and can gracefully dress slopes, bare undergrowth, or the base of trees.
