Adapted to grow in low light conditions, shade loving perennials are very useful for filling in a bare understory, a shaded slope or covering the base of a tree. Varieties of ferns, Japanese anemones, hostas, or heucheras will be preferred. However, be aware that while shade doesn't impede them, the soil should not lack in moisture. Some plants like Geranium macrorrhizum and G. nodosum, Epimediums, or even comfrey are capable of growing in dry shade.

You'll adore them!
