Aubrieta is a hardy perennial plant ideal as ground cover, in the form of a pretty cushion covered with purple, pink or blue flowers. Aubrieta is used in rockeries, as a border for a flowerbed, or to cover a wall or slope. The leaves are small, of medium green. In spring clusters of colourful cruciate flowers gather. Aubrieta is grown in full sun in rich and well-drained soil. Trim the tufts after planting to keep them compact in habit.
