Our range of creeping Conifers. Among the dwarf conifers, the varieties with a creeping or prostrate habit are perfect for elegantly and durably covering the ground in rockeries and on slopes. The Juniperus horizontalis 'Blue Chip' is one of the most popular with its silvery-blue foliage and spreading habit. The Juniperus procumbens 'Nana' is another favourite with its dark green foliage that turns slightly bronze in winter. Native to Siberia, the Microbiota decussata stands out for its extreme hardiness as well as its light and feathery foliage that takes on a coppery hue in autumn. The Juniperus communis 'Green Carpet' is appreciated for its bright green foliage and rapid growth. Also worth mentioning is the Pinus mugo 'Mughus': forming a large ground cover of 1.20 m, this conifer is known for its resilience and dense, dark green foliage. One of the best-known is the very hardy, undemanding, common juniper 'Repanda', which forms an impenetrable tapetum that turns bronze in winter.

Creeping conifers adapt to a wide range of soils, but they prefer well-drained soil. They also thrive in sunny to partially shaded exposures. Once well established, they require little maintenance and are drought-resistant. Plant them in autumn or spring, spacing the plants sufficiently to allow them to spread. Water regularly in the first year to encourage good root development, then only during prolonged dry spells.

These creeping conifers are particularly appreciated for their ability to prevent soil erosion and for their low maintenance needs. However, be sure to monitor them for diseases and pest infestations, especially in overly moist soil.
