Our Brunneras or silver-leaved Caucasian Forget-me-nots. These are very beautiful varieties, like Brunnera 'Jack Frost' or 'Looking Glass', with heart-shaped leaves that are strongly silvered or marbled with silver. The spring flowering of these perennial ground cover plants, sometimes called Siberian Buglosses, resembles that of blue or white forget-me-nots, which further enhances their charm. Astonishingly, the oversized leaves of Brunnera macrophylla 'Alexander's Great' are almost entirely silvered. Brunnera macrophylla 'Silver Heart' is a cultivar that combines qualities with very thick leaves, finely veined silver with green, exceptional vigour, and good heat resistance. Also magnificent is the variety 'Jack of Diamonds' with particularly large leaves, measuring up to 25cm (10in) long, covered with a silver glaze, finely reticulated with dark green. To accompany these plants in fresh woodland settings, consider hostas, bleeding hearts, or Euphorbia polychroma, sturdy perennials that appreciate the same environments.
