Our fruit tree pollinator duos pair two plants selected for their compatibility and overlapping flowering periods. This provides you with the partner needed for pollination, without having to work out which variety to pair with your fruit tree. Depending on the species, these duos bring together two fruit varieties or a male plant and a female plant.
Our duos of cherry, apple, pear and greengage plum trees pair varieties that pollinate each other. The pear tree duo 'Louise Bonne d’Avranches' and 'Conférence' is one example. For kiwis, the pairs 'Hayward' and 'Atlas', or 'Montcap' and 'Tomuri', include a female variety that bears the fruit and a male variety that supplies the pollen. The same principle applies to sea buckthorn duos : the berries develop on the female plant.
Plant the two partners close together, respecting the spacing and specific requirements of each species. Insects carry pollen between fruit trees and kiwis; for sea buckthorn, this role is performed by the wind. Also discover our fruit tree collections and our soft fruit. Our guide to pollination of fruit trees explains how to encourage fruit formation.
