Our range of giant ferns, tree ferns and other Osmunda species allows you to transform cool spots in the garden into exotic and lush undergrowth. Dicksonia antarctica, the native Royal fern (Osmunda regalis) and its purple form ‘Purpurascens’, as well as Woodwardia fimbriata, offer large fronds that can exceed 1.50 to 2 metres in height, superb in shaded borders and on the edge of a pond.

These giant ferns appreciate cool conditions: plant them in dappled shade or partial shade, in soil rich in organic matter and consistently moist but well-drained. Plant them in loosened soil amended with compost, water regularly without letting the soil dry out, and renew a protective mulch each autumn to retain moisture.
