Flowering fruit trees combine particularly ornamental blossoms with a harvest of edible fruit. Apple trees with colourful flowers, peach trees, nectarine trees, almond trees, pomegranate trees, feijoas and quince trees are covered in spring, or later depending on the species, with white, pink, red or orange flowers. Their abundant flowering allows them to find a place in the orchard and in a flower bed, near a terrace or as a standalone specimen on a lawn. Apple trees with pink or purple flowers, dwarf peach trees and almond trees are prized for their early flowering, while pomegranate trees and feijoas offer later and more original flowers. All combine ornamental interest and fruit production, provided their needs for sun, warmth and soil type are respected. These flowering fruit trees form shrubs or small trees of 2 to 8m in height depending on the variety. They need a sunny position; plant them in autumn or early spring for the most tender ones, water regularly during the first year and mulch the base.
