Our range of Helwingia, fascinating bushes for curious gardeners, distinguished by their botanical uniqueness. The Helwingia japonica, the most well-known species, is a bushy plant that produces flowers directly attached to the central vein of its leaves, a unique phenomenon in the plant world. This small evergreen bush forms compact bushes 1 to 2 meters high. In autumn, it is adorned with small black or red berries, adding a touch of colour to the garden. The Helwingia himalaica, native to the Himalayas, has similar characteristics, with slightly larger foliage and better hardiness. The Helwingia chinensis, on the other hand, offers discreet spring flowering, followed by dark blue-black berries that attract birds.

The Helwingias prefer a semi-shaded exposure and a soil rich in humus, moist and well-drained. They tolerate harsh winters well but appreciate protection from drying winds.
