Bellflowers are hardy perennial or biennial plants. The flowers are bell-shaped, varying in size depending on the species, and can be pink, white, or blue in colour. The flowering period is from May to September. Low-growing bellflowers are used for flower borders and as groundcover. Tall bellflowers are suitable for a mixed border. Plant the bellflowers in sunny locations with rich and humus-rich soil, avoiding excessive limestone content. The soil should remain moist during summer.

Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
