Tecoma are bushes or climbing bushes similar to trumpet vines appreciated for their spectacular flowering, in clusters of brightly coloured tubular flowers. Among the flagship varieties, Tecoma stans, or Golden trumpet, stands out with its golden flowers and evergreen foliage. They bring exoticism to the garden or terrace. Tecoma (Tecomaria) capensis, with a more climbing habit, offers cascades of orange-red flowers in autumn and winter. Tecoma ‘Sundown’ charms with its delicate peach tones, while the more compact Tecoma ‘Lydia’ is perfect for small gardens and pots.
These plants from the Bignoniaceae family originating from South America and South Africa bring exoticism to the garden or terrace. They appreciate a sunny exposure and well-drained soil. Not very hardy, down to -5°C depending on the varieties, they can only be grown in the ground in the mildest regions. Cultivating them in large pots allows you to shelter them in winter.
