The x Alcalthaea is the result of a cross-breeding between the tree marshmallow (Althea) and the hollyhock (Alcea). This new inter-genus hybrid has the longevity and slender habit of Althea, as well as the floribundity and vibrant colors of Alcea. Hardy and easy to grow, the x Alcalthaea, like its parents, enjoys sunlight and well-draining, poor, and even chalky soils.
