Our range of Marantas, also called 'Prayer Plants' or 'Praying Plants'. These indoor plants are prized for their ornamental foliage which has the ability to stand upright at night. The best-known is the Maranta arundinacea known as Arrow-Root, cultivated for its rootstocks from which arrowroot powder is extracted and used in cooking or cosmetics. The Maranta leuconeura ‘Fascinator’ is decorative with its green leaves veined in red and adorned with dark spots. The species M. kerchoveana, often nicknamed 'Zebra Plant' stands out with its ovate leaves marked by brown spots on a light green background. The Maranta leuconeura ‘Silver Band’ offers an elegant silvery foliage thanks to its bright central band.
Marantas prefer filtered light and humid ambient air. Grow them in rich, well-draining, slightly acidic soil and water moderately with soft water, allowing the soil surface to dry slightly between waterings.
