Asters are perennial plants that light up beds in autumn with their colourful flowering! There are countless varieties, which come in beautiful shades of blue, purple, white or pink. Although the most common ones are autumn asters, such as Aster novi-belgii or Aster nova-angliae, there are also varieties that flower in spring or summer, such as Alpine aster (Aster alpinus). With their airy and light appearance, tall varieties add a lot of volume when placed at the back of flower beds. On the other hand, dwarf asters, like Aster dumosus, beautifully enhance the foreground of flower beds.

Asters prefer well-drained soil and sunny exposures. They spread easily thanks to their rhizomes and can sometimes naturalise.

You'll adore them!
