Description

Aster dumosus 'Kristina' is a dwarf variety with a perfectly compact habit ideal for the front of a border or in containers on a patio. Produces beautiful semi-double pure white daisies. A perennial star plant in late summer.

Aster dumosus are sturdy plants that bloom every year from August to October.

Asters, or Michaelmas daisies, are excellent plants to bring life to the garden in late summer and early autumn. In wildflower gardens, their inflorescences add a superb airy touch.

Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil, covering the top of the root ball by 3cm (1in). Not very demanding, they can thrive in any type of soil. However, stagnant moisture in winter can be fatal to them. Asters are susceptible to powdery mildew. Mulch all asters every year in November after cutting them back. You can divide them in late autumn or early spring if they become too large.
