The Blazing star or Liatris spicata are elegant perennials with 40cm (16in) long flowering spikes. They attract beesand their feathery inflorescences have the particularity of opening from the top. They are a rare treat in our gardens, they bring joy throughout the summer with colors ranging from white to purple. Also known as Liatrides, they like rather poor and well-drained soils, even sandy ones, but remaining fresh in summer. In sunny locations, they are perfect for water edges, borders, and beds.
