Deciduous ferns, unlike the evergreen ferns, lose their leaves or fronds in winter due to the cold, like many other perennial or shrubby plants. They are often very hardy species that grow naturally in our woodlands, like the Male Fern (Dryopteris filix-mas), which is so easy to grow in our gardens. Don't hesitate to mix your deciduous or evergreen ferns with other plants in the garden, such as Hostas, Lamiums, or Epimediums. Miniature ferns like Azolla caroliniana or those that easily exceed one metre like the German fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris), their fronds, elegant or extravagant, always bring an indescribable charm to any setting. There are deciduous ferns for acid or chalky soil, wet or dry, for shade or sun, for planting in the ground or in large pots. Choose from our collection the one that will thrive in your garden.
