Chimonanthus

Our range of Chimonanthus, or Chimonanthes, showcases these bushes appreciated for their fragrant winter flowering. The most famous is the Chimonanthus praecox, called the early flowering wax bush. This variety charms with its small pale yellow waxy flowers, delicately marked with purple at the center, which appear on naked wood in the heart of winter. The variety ‘Grandiflorus’ stands out with its larger flowers and even more pronounced fragrance. The Chimonanthes praecox ‘Luteus’ offers flowers of a more intense yellow. Chimonanthus are perfect for bringing life to winter gardens and scenting the air on cold days.

They appreciate a sunny to semi-shaded exposure and a rich, well-drained, fresh soil. To protect their flowering, make sure to plant them in a sheltered spot from the cold wind. Light pruning after flowering helps maintain their compact shape.
