Heucheras or heucherellas are nicknamed "Painter's Despair" for the infinite subtlety of the colors of their foliage, which vary depending on the distance of the veins and the season. Semi-evergreen, heucheras offer a beautiful spectacle 9 months out of 12. The flowering is generally not very interesting, however, they are often associated with spring-flowering bulbs, especially tulips, and provide a beautiful foreground for perennial beds. There are many new varieties of colors making it easier than ever to find some to match your flowerbeds. Some of the remarkable varieties on offer include; caramel (reddish), green spice (silver gray), georgia peach (purple), obsidian (almost black), and lime rickey (apple green). keep an eye out for the new introductions we make every year.

- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
