We don't use the same tools to cut live branches or dead wood! The most suitable tools for removing all dead branches in the cleaning of your trees and bushes are secateurs and anvil loppers. Anvil secateurs and loppers can cut larger branches than cross-cutting tools. They are equipped with a thick blade sharpened on both sides which comes to crush on a flat part, the anvil. This type of secateurs crushes a part of the branch and should therefore only be used for dead wood.
