Discover our selection of evergreen shrubs and trees with fragrant flowers. Some, like Ebbing's Silverberry, are very useful for hedges, but if you don't prune them too severely you'll be able to enjoy their discreet but sweet autumn flowering.
Many trees and shrubs adapted to full sun will also delight your nostrils: you'll have plenty of choices between Mexican orange blossoms or Delavay's privet, and if you live in a mild climate region, you can adopt the famous mimosa (Acacia dealbata), or the rarer Azara serrata with its vanilla scent.
More surprisingly are varieties which flower during winter, such as Daphne odorata 'Aureomarginata' , 'Winter Sun' Mahonia, Sarcococca confusa, and Camellia transnokoensis, more suitable for shade: position them wisely, for example near a window or a frequented pathway, and they will reward you every year with their fragrance at a time when the garden is barely waking up from its dormancy!
