Our range of Bladder Senna also known as Colutea. It is an attractive and easy-to-grow bush, appreciated for its delicate foliage and its swollen pod-shaped fruits. Colutea arborescens is the most common species. It is decorative with its compound leaves made up of small ovate leaflets and its yellow pea-shaped flowers that appear in summer.
Colutea media ‘Copper Beauty’ is another popular variety, showcasing flowers of a coppery yellow and pods with reddish hues at maturity. Colutea orientalis is a lesser-known species but equally charming, offering pale yellow flowers and green pods that turn brown over time.
Bladder Sennas thrive in well-drained soils, even poor ones, and prefer a sunny exposure. They are highly drought-resistant and require little maintenance, making them essential for dry or unwatered gardens. A light pruning in early spring will help maintain a nice habit and promote abundant flowering.
