The Chilli Pepper and the Bell Pepper - Capsicum annuum - are distinguishable from each other by the presence or absence of a powerful alkaloid: capsaicin. They are grown for their hollow fruits and consumed in a condiment or as a vegetable. As they require a lot of heat and light, their young plants are transplanted when there is no longer a risk of frost, grown in a sheltered location and in full sun. Space them 50cm (20in) apart in all directions. The Chilli Pepper and the Bell Pepper are naturally rich in vitamin C when consumed fresh and in pro-vitamin A. They are also both rich in antioxidants.

You'll love them!
