Our range of Red kuri squashes. These small squashes are harvested in autumn and store well. The red kuri squash has firm, orange flesh with a chestnut flavour, ideal to prepare velvety soups, roasted dishes or gratins. Vigorous, trailing annual plants, they love warmth, sun, and rich, moist soil.
Among the leading varieties, 'Uchiki-Kuri' is recognisable by its orange-red fruits weighing 1 to 2 kg; this red kuri is quite early and reliable in the vegetable garden. 'Divine F1' is an early variety that produces 6 to 8 fruits per plant; its orange skin encloses firm flesh with a mild, sweet flavour. 'Sunshine F1' stands out with its uniform bright red skin, sweet flesh and good productivity. The 'Green Kabocha' (often sold as 'Green Hokkaido' squash) has dark green skin, very dense and dry flesh with a pronounced aroma, but requires a bit more warmth and a slightly longer growing cycle.

Sow your squashes under cover in April-May or plant after the last frosts in deep, humus-bearing, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Allow 1.50 m to 2 m between plants depending on vigour. You can sow in pots in warmth to bring forward the harvest.
