The Sesleria genus includes around 33 species of grasses native to mountainous regions of Europe, among which several Sesleria automnalis perennials are cultivated for their beautifully coloured foliage and delicate inflorescences. Evergreen in winter and decorative throughout the year, these low grasses create a lovely effect along the edges of perennial beds, in rock gardens, or in a meadow. Completely hardy, they thrive in full sun to partial shade or even in dry shade depending on the species, in any well-drained ordinary soil, preferably neutral or slightly alkaline. They can be easily propagated by sowing or by dividing the clumps. These grasses will be better highlighted when planted in groups of 5 to 10 plants.

You'll adore them!
