The common Lilacs or Syringa are beautiful shrubs that create an beautiful intoxicating feel in gardens with their clusters of fragrant flowers. Vigorous and prolific suckering, they can reach a height of 6m (20ft). They have medium green heart-shaped deciduous leaves. From April to May, Syringas develop clusters of single or double flowers in colors ranging from white to violet. The Indian Lilacs or Lagerstroemia, on the other hand, bloom from June to October and have leaves that turn fiery red in autumn. However, they are less hardy than Syringas. Lilacs are fast-growing and are planted in rich, moist, well-drained soil, in sunny or semi-shady locations.

You'll adore them!
