Our range of Betula pendula. The verrucate birch, also called white birch, weeping birch or European birch, is a tree with a slender trunk, whose white bark cracks with age, adorned with light foliage that brings an airy touch to the garden. It has given rise to several cultivars such as the Betula pendula 'Youngii' which displays a weeping habit, or the Betula pendula 'Fastigiata' which adopts a columnar habit.

The Betula pendula, native to Europe and Asia, is a fast-growing tree, recognizable by its white and smooth bark, which darkens and cracks as it ages. Its deciduous foliage, light green in spring, turns golden yellow in autumn.

The pendulous birches prefer light, well-drained and slightly acidic soils. These trees tolerate cold climates and wind well. An open and sunny exposure will allow them to reveal their full beauty.
