The Pear tree (Pyrus communis) is a large fruit tree, in free form it can reach a height of between 10 and 15m (33 and 49ft). Originating from Europe, the pear tree is a very popular fruit tree and widely cultivated. There are hundreds of varieties but only a few dozen are praised for their taste, texture and good preservation. We can note the varieties, 'William's Bon Chrétien': very productive, with a smooth flesh; 'Conference': good preservation, with a firm flesh and the variety 'Doyenne du Comice': an excellent pollinator with a sweet and very smooth flesh.
