The Melon – Cucumis melo – from the Cucurbitaceae family is a creeping plant generally cultivated for its tasty and juicy fruit. It can be consumed as an appetizer or dessert, simply sliced, as a sorbet, jam, compote, or syrup. The Charentais Melon needs no introduction: its presence heralds the arrival of summer, as there is no fruit more refreshing and thirst-quenching. The sweet fragrance it emits indicates that it is ready to be harvested. Rich in water, the melon is very hydrating and a diuretic. It is known to be rich in trace elements and vitamins B and C.
