The seeds of Echinacea or purple coneflower are a good alternative to easily multiply these beautiful perennial or annual plants with generous summer flowering. They can be sown from late winter or early spring, from March to May. Early sowing indoors (at 15°C) sometimes allows for flowering in the first season. Under good conditions, germination begins in just five days, but can take up to 20 days. Thin out and transplant your seedlings as soon as they are strong enough to be handled in well-drained and well-worked soil. Echinacea, which are very easy to maintain, offer white to purple daisy-like flowers in summer, sometimes green or pink, which attract bees and butterflies. They like fertile and well-drained soil in full sun. Cultivation often involves pruning in autumn. Native to North America, three species of Echinacea (pallida, angustifolia, and purpurea) have the same medicinal properties. They prevent respiratory and urinary tract infections, promote the healing of wounds and skin inflammations. Discover our selection of Echinacea seeds.
