The Euonymus, better known as Fusain, comprise around 175 species of trees, bushes, and creeping plants. They offer beautiful varieties that create colourful landscapes throughout the year, such as Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald Gaiety', dark or variegated bushes like Euonymus japonicus 'Aureomarginatus', E. japonicus 'Albomarginatus'. Deciduous species adorn themselves in autumn with some of the richest and brightest hues, like the winged fusain Euonymus alatus. Fusains are hardy and undemanding bushes.

- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
