Order in 8-9cm buckets, pleasantly surprised by the size of the plants. No issue with planting them in the garden. These Euonymus plants are very bright, perfect for filling flower beds while brightening them up. I will definitely plant more!

Description

The Euonymus fortunei Emerald 'n' gold, also known as Emerald 'n' gold Euonymus, is a compact bush with a spreading habit. It is excellent ground cover with fairly dense decorative foliage. From May to August, clusters of small white flowers appear measuring 2 to 5mm (0.2in) in diameter. Followed by spherical white fruits measuring 2 to 6mm (0.2in) in diameter which contain orange seeds.

The evergreen leaves of the Euonymus are ovate and finely dentate. Measuring 2 to 5cm (2in) in length, they have attractive variegated foliage and a bright green colour with golden yellow edges, turning pink in winter. Native to China, it is a very hardy bush that withstands strong winds. It can reach a height of 60cm (23.6in) at maturity and a spread of 90cm (35.4in).

This plant is toxic to humans but attracts birds. It can be a climbing plant if supported by a structure when it can be trained up to 3m (9.8ft) along a wall, fence, or even a tree. Euonymus can be found in borders, slopes, rockeries, and also used as ground cover. It can also be used as a low, pruned hedge or in containers for balconies and terraces.

Planting and care

The Euonymus Emerald 'n' gold likes a neutral, fertile, and well-drained soil. Place it in full sun or partial shade. It is a plant that requires little maintenance and is therefore suitable for all gardeners, even beginners. Every 2 to 3 years at the end of spring or in summer, prune the bush. It tolerates significant pruning. The Euonymus has good drought resistance. Additionally, it withstands salt spray well and is not susceptible to powdery mildew.
