Our range of Quetsche plum trees, among the range of fruit trees to discover in our plum and mirabelle trees. These varieties produce table or cooking plums, sweet and full of flavour.
The Quetsche d’Alsace plum tree, a renowned heritage variety, produces large, elongated, blue-violet fruits with firm yellow flesh, sweet and perfect for tarts and jams. The Italian Quetsche is prized for its later harvest in September and its particularly sweet purple plums. For small gardens, discover 'Toronto', a compact columnar Quetsche plum tree. For patios, Dwarf Plum Tree Fruit Me® Plum Me, a Quetsche type, is self-fertile and delicious.
These plum trees grow to heights of 1.50 m to 5 m, with decorative white spring flowering that is nectar-rich.
Quetsche plum trees thrive in full sun, in deep, rich, well-drained soil. They dislike waterlogged conditions. Plant them between November and March, avoiding frost. Light pruning in late winter is sufficient to encourage fruit production. Be mindful of brown rot, which can affect fruiting: proper branch spacing and removing damaged fruits help reduce risks.
